The Job

The Director of Growth will be the voice and face of Backbone wherever the pursuit of new business takes us. They will bring with them an extensive professional network of marketing, media and e-commerce decision-makers at brands in the broader lifestyle category. They will be responsible for developing the new business pipeline by finding and qualifying new prospects on the ground at key events as well as virtually from their desk. This role will collaborate directly with the marketing and leadership teams to identify, develop and implement strategic growth opportunities.

 

The Work

  • Have and maintain a deep knowledge of modern media and marketing tactics
  • Lead consultative sales processes with sophisticated national brands
  • Be responsible for exceeding revenue goals by acquiring new business in the outdoor, hospitality, fitness, sport, travel, luxury, automobile, direct to consumer, e-commerce, growth marketing and/or lifestyle industries
  • Create and execute strategies to expand the business, increase revenue, and achieve strategic objectives
  • Identify potential new clients, products and markets and develop strategies to capitalize on
  • Develop and implement business strategies to promote and differentiate the agency’s services and offerings
  • Provide strategic guidance and direction to the executive team

 

The Essentials

  • 10+ years of experience in business development and/or sales
  • Excellent forecasting, financial and contract negotiation skills
  • Significant experience leading teams to execute all aspects of transactions including planning, analysis, proposal development, negotiation, execution, and integration
  • Established, strong and current network in key lifestyle industries
  • Established relationships and leads in major markets including Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Denver and/or Austin.
  • Ability to handle projects with multiple work streams, with proven success over a wide variety of business opportunities
  • Strong presentation and relationship management skills
  • Ability to maximize value by thinking win-win and utilizing advanced negotiating strategies
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the type of hustle that makes things happen

 

Compensation: At time of posting, $100,000 – $130,000 annual base salary plus highly-competitive sales goal bonus. This position’s full compensation is target-based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions
